Honda Motor passenger car sales in China rose 9.6% year on year last month to 42,062 units, way behind the total market’s 37.7% rise in April

Sales by the Guangzhou Honda manufacturing joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group, parent of Hong Kong-listed Denway Motors, rose 9.1% to 26,012 units in April and were up 3.4% to 98,666 cars year to date.
The JV with Dongfeng Motor, Dongfeng Honda, booked April sales of 16,050, up 10.5%, and its tally for the first four months was up 6.4% to 59,119.
Overall, Honda car sales in China were up 4.5% to 157,785 units for 2009 so far.
Honda has another JV in China making export-only models such as the Fit/Jazz.
