By GlobalDataThe start of Camry production brings Toyota’s production capacity in China up to that of Nissan and Honda. Until now Toyota has lagged its competitors in China.
The Camry will be priced at 197,800 yuan and 269,800 yuan (US$24,670-$33,650) each, slightly cheaper than the Honda Accord. Sales will be through a separate sales channel operated by Guangzhou Toyota with 116 outlets distinct from the Toyota sales network that is operated in partnership with FAW. The two networks are expected to help Toyota reach its sales target of 300,000 cars this year, up from 183,000 sold in 2005.
