Toyota has told its workers in China that it expects it to be at least a year before sales recover to their pre-territorial dispute level.

Hiroji Onishi, the company’s senior managing officer in China, told staff that Toyota is reviewing new investment plans for the country because it expects anti-Japan sentiment over the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islands in the East China Sea to continue to affect sales, news agencies reported.

Toyota’s sales in China fell 22.1% year on year in November. Nissan reported sales down 29.8% and Honda saw a 29.2% slump.
