Tesla plans to eliminate 180 positions, or 30% of its staff, in China following lower than expected sales, Economic Observer reported.
Gary Tao, a company spokesperson said, “The purpose is to better respond to the Chinese market. The team remains stable and strong.”

According to Bloomberg, half of the workforce at Tesla’s local sales department will be dismissed. The other departments that will see positions being eliminated include administration, public relations and marketing.
