February was a particularly strong month, with sales up 42.3% year on year at 139,000 units. CAAM combined the two-month sales figures to counteract the distorting effects of the Chinese New Year which was in January this year, not February as in 2011.

China is well on course to achieve the CAAM forecast of 1.85m SUV sales this year, an annual growth rate of 16%.
