Supercar producer Spyker has inked a deal with China Automobile Trading Co (CATC) to set up a joint venture in the country to distribute its models according to reports in Beijing.

The deal – apparently sealed at the Beijing Auto Show – by Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller – would see the JV responsible for sales and after-sales service.

Both parties are however, still waiting on government approval for the JV deal.

Spyker Cars, which recently bought Saab, said last week it would would like the Swedish brand to develop a new, small model, perhaps on the lines of the Mini.

Beijing Automotive Industry Holding (BAIC) also noted last week it would evaluate construction of a site to make vehicles on the basis of Saab technology it acquired in 2009.
