The reports say that GM is considering strengthening the importance of its Shanghai-based venture in its global strategy so that its Chinese venture can sell its cars in GM’s overseas sales network.
The venture currently sells its cars mainly in Chinese domestic market and exports some key car parts and components.
It will now consider greater exports to overseas markets where there is no local supply base.
GM had also reportedly revealed that it would choose some Chinese car parts companies as its suppliers for global purchase.
