The carmaker’s CEO, Jean-Martin Folz, told Agence France-Presse: “We have set ourselves a sales target of 135,000 vehicles… which is 50 percent higher than last year.”
That forecast compares with the 115,000 made by the company’s Dongfeng PSA Peugeot Citroen venture back in January.
“We have made a good start (to 2005) after experiencing what was not a good year in 2004, when we had a downturn in both sales volumes and market share,” Folz added.
Thanks mainly to the local launch of the new Peugeot 307 “we have regained a market share of 5 pct since the start of the year, with our sales growth running at 37 or 38 pct in a market that is growing by 6 to 7 pct,” he said.
