Dongfeng will invest CNY2 bn (US$316m) in the Xiangyang plant to meet growing demand from Chinese buyers, said Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of the company.
Two Infiniti models will be manufactured from 2014 at the plant which currently produces Nissan Teana and Murano models. Annual production capacity will grow from the current 130,000 to 250,000 in 2014, added Nakamura.
He said that manufacturing Infiniti in China will help Nissan reach its target of taking 10% of the global luxury car market in 2016.
