The company said the decline in September was due to sluggish sales of light commercial vehicles and increased competition in the passenger car segment.

Sales in the first nine months of the year rose 5.2% to about 879,100 vehicles.

Nissan’s target is 1.4m cars in China this year, up 10.6%.
