A company representative told Reuters that the new plant, jointly built by Audi and its FAW partner will make the Audi A4L and Q5 at the plant.
The A4L – a derivative of Audi’s popular mid-size sedan that sports a longer wheelbase – is now made at an existing 100,000-unit factory in Changchun that also produces the Audi A6L sedan.
The new production facility is seen as a strategic move by Audi, the biggest premium carmaker in China, to meet its sales target of 200,000 vehicles annually by 2015.
