China has called on the Netherlands to reverse what it described as “mistakes” linked to the latter’s intervention in semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia, reported Reuters.
Beijing urged the European nation to remove barriers and help restore normal semiconductor supply conditions.

“China once again urges the Netherlands not to act unilaterally, but to immediately correct its mistakes and clear the obstacles to restoring the stability and security of the global semiconductor supply chain,” the commerce ministry was quoted as saying.
The dispute dates to September 2025, when the Dutch government assumed control of Nexperia, a Netherlands-based subsidiary of Chinese-owned Wingtech.
According to the Dutch authorities, the step was taken to prevent the company’s founder from transferring technology and production capacity to China.
Following the intervention, Beijing blocked exports of Nexperia’s chips, which are used in automotive and consumer electronics applications and are largely packaged in China.
In November, the Dutch government temporarily halted its intervention in Nexperia, describing the move as a gesture of goodwill while discussions with China continued.
Since then, Wingtech has held talks with court-appointed custodians overseeing the chipmaker’s entire operations.
Despite the pause, the Netherlands’ Economic Affairs Minister, Vincent Karremans, has defended the original decision to intervene.
China’s commerce ministry said the Dutch stance was “perplexing”, arguing that what it termed “inappropriate administrative interference in the internal affairs of Nexperia” had triggered a crisis in the global semiconductor supply chain.
It added that the Dutch government “must bear full responsibility” for the situation.
Last month, Wingtech Technology Chair Ruby Yang warned that instability in the global semiconductor supply chain could continue.
Her warning came as she said Wingtech needs to regain full control over Nexperia.
