Johnson Controls is spending US$154m on a new automotive battery factory in China which will produce 6m units a year.
The new 133,000 sq m facility in Chongqing City, western China, was officially opened this week and will create more than 500 jobs once at full capacity.

Kenneth Yeng, vice president and general manager of Johnson Controls Power Solutions China, said: “The opening of Chongqing demonstrates our long-term commitment to China, which is a key strategic market. This facility will not only enable us to meet increasing demand from our customers in China but will also allow us to demonstrate our global leadership in technology and sustainability.”
JCI entered the Chinese automotive supply market with batteries in 2005 and is building a new corporate headquarters in Shanghai.
