The Accords being recalled are 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre sedans produced between January 15 and June 17, the report said, adding that the recall was part of a global recall recently by Honda for similar problems.

While the recall could hurt Honda’s image in China, Yale Zhang, an analyst at market research firm Automotive Resources Asia, told Dow Jones, the recall wasn’t serious because it involved a relatively minor part of the car. “And anyway, there are still huge back orders for Honda’s cars,” Zhang reportedly added.

A Guangzhou Honda spokesman declined to tell Dow Jones how much Honda would have to spend on the repairs but a BOCI research note reportedly said the costs would likely total less than five million yuan and would have little impact on profits.
