Honda and Nissan both recorded September sales increases in China and said they were on course to meet their year-end targets.

Nissan was up 29.5% from a year earlier to 97,381 vehicles. For the January-September period, sales of its cars and commercial vehicles produced by its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor, as well as imported cars from Japan, totalled 755,015 vehicles, up 39.4% year on year. Nissan has set a target of 860,000 sales in China this year.

Honda sales in September rose 3% over last year earlier to 60,913 units from 59,138. China sales in the January-to-September period rose 16.2% to 475,643 units.

September sales at Guangqi Honda Automobile fell 2.6% to 36,626 units from 37,613 a year earlier but Dongfeng Honda Automobile rose 12.8% to 24,287 units from 21,525 in 2009.
