The Shanghai-built Buick LaCrosse Eco-Hybrid can achieve fuel economy of 8.3 litres/100km compared with 9.8 litres for non-hybrid models, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the automaker. No details of pricing or a start sales date were provided, the news agency added.


The GM JV had also said it plans to start selling fuel cell-powered vehicles in China after 2010, Reuters noted.


GM also said its Shanghai venture aimed to launch 11 engines that offer better fuel economy between 2009 and 2012, the report added.
