GM is reportedly planning to export vehicles made at its China joint ventures to the US.

A report in the official Shanghai Securities News reported this week that GM aims to ship up to 50,000 Chinese made vehicles annually to the US by 2014. Shipments could commence in 2011 or 2012.

GM has a car venture in Shanghai with SAIC and it also produces minivans (or ‘bread vans’) and pick-up trucks in south China through SAIC-GM-Wuling.

Shanghai-GM, which currently makes Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet models, has been a notable overseas success story for GM.
