Geely Automobile Holdings has reiterated its plans to achieve annual consolidated sales of 2m cars by 2015, growth of 150% on 2010.

Speaking at a business seminar in Taiwan, China’s largest private automaker added that it was eyeing profits of CNY200bn (US$30bn) in the same time frame.

In 2010, Geely saw sales jump 27% to 415,000 units, ahead of its target of 400,000. Consolidated sales, including Volvo, were 800,000 units and consolidated net profit was over CNY100bn.

Geely executives have made these goals public before, adding that, in order to achieve the 2m sales target by 2015, it will build more than 40 models on 15 platforms under its three brands, Emgrand, Gleagle and Englon, and will expand its dealer network nationwide,

Yang Jian, president of Geely’s parent, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, also said yesterday that it was in talks with Foxconn Group regarding the development of green vehicles.

Speaking to Reuters, he said: “We do not see sales of green cars jumping in the coming five years, but it is a trend and we are planning ahead.”
