Siegfried Wolf, chairman of the board of Russian Machines, and Luo Kaiquan, vice-president of China North Industries (NORINCO) have signed, in China, a memorandum of cooperation setting the framework for an “extensive mutually beneficial partnership” covering heavy trucks, passenger cars and railroad equipment engineering.

Truck cooperation will include a new line of Ural trucks produced in Miass, Chelyabinsk region, to complement an existing product line.

There will also be cooperation to ‘localise’ truck components production.

The project will allow Ural to diversify its product line, to enter a new road vehicle segment with a new, competitive and affordable product line, to expand exports and to create new jobs.

In return, cooperation between Russian Machines and NORINCO will see international standard engines made at the Yaroslavl motor plant used in Chinese trucks.

Both parties are also discussing production in Russia of a new Chinese passenger car brand and components, using knowledge and experience at Russian Machines and GAZ Group.
