Ford China’s sales in the first half of 2013 soared 47% year on year to 407,721 units, driven by continued strong demand for the Focus, Kuga and Transit, the automaker said. June sales rose 44% to 75,254.

John Lawler, chairman and CEO, said: “In the first half of 2013, we introduced four new passenger cars, significantly refreshed the Fiesta and Transit, set sales records, and launched a new engine and assembly plant.”

The passenger car joint venture Changan Ford (CAF) set records in the first half with sales up 66% to 286,680 and June volume up 48% to 54,862.

In the first half, Ford sold 185,697 Focus cars, an increase of 69% over 2012.

The light commercial joint venture Jiangling Motors (JMC) sold a record 110,230 vehicles, an increase of 7%. June sales were up 6% to 16,022. First-half sales of the Transit rose 21% to 32,553.
