GAC Fiat Automobiles, the joint venture in the southern city of Changsha, will add a second shift from next April, effectively doubling production, the company’s general manager John Burton said at the Guangzhou motor show.
The plant builds the China-only Viaggio – based on the Dodge Dart/Alfa Romeo Giulietta – and will add the Ottimo hatchback variant next year in time for a spring launch after the Chinese new year celebrations. The car was launched at the show.
