Exhaust maker Eberspaecher is starting production in Shanghai-Jiading for both local customers and for export.
The German supplier has operated joint ventures in China since 2003 in Dalian in the north east and Changchun, the capital of Jilin province, also in the north-east, making exhaust systems and silencers.

In 2011 Eberspaecher Exhaust Technology Shanghai was established. The new company, which will eventually employ around 400, will make catalytic converters, manifold-cat modules and silencers for western and Asian passenger car makers while complete exhaust systems will be manufactured for a local commercial vehicle engine maker.
“The start of production is an important step towards the improved servicing of our customers in Asia, where we are expecting dynamic growth based on our technological expertise and emissions legislation which is becoming ever stricter”, said general manager Richard Hu.
‘Medium term’ plans have already been announced to build a technical centre alongside the new Shanghai factory.
