A SinoCast report said that the Wuhan-based venture’s second factory will start manufacturing cars in 2009.
DPCA’s two brands – Peugeot and Citroen – will launch more new cars from 2008.
The Peugeot 307 was launched on the market in February 2008 and the all-new Elysee will hit the market on April 8 this year, the report said. The two brands will launch five car models this year and twenty over the next five years.
The report added that a third model platform at the plant will be added in 2009 and also said that DPCA is feeling the effects of higher costs, including raw materials and wages.
In these circumstances, capacity will be added as needed and the third plant will have to wait.
