The Elysee has become the most-popular model of the joint venture, between French PSA Peugeot Citroen and China’s Dongfeng Motor Corp, since it was launched in June last year, said officials from the joint venture.
“The Elysee is very much accepted by consumers, as it has a fairly good price, quality and performance,” officials told China Business Weekly.
The joint venture, based in Wuhan, capital of Central China’s Hubei Province, sold more than 30,000 Elysee sedans during the year’s first eight months.
The vehicle has become one of the best-selling models in China’s medium-range passenger car segment, company officials said.
The joint venture expects its sales to exceed 110,000 units this year, up from 85,800 units last year.
The company also produces Citroen’s 1.4- and 1.6-litre Fukang car, the 2-litre Xsara sedan and the 2-litre Picasso multi-purpose vehicle.
The joint venture also plans to produce the Peugeot 307 next year and aims to increase its annual sales to more than 300,000 units annually within the next five years.
