According to the People’s Daily Online, domestic manufacturers Chery and Geely were amongst the five top selling passenger car makes in China in the first two months of the year.

The publication quotes statistics from the Department of Machinery & Electronic Products of the Ministry of Commerce.
Chery sold 41,641 vehicles in January and February, up over 100% on a year earlier. Geely sold 35,508 vehicles, an increase of 121%.
Chery and Geely ranked third and fifth respectively. Others in the top five were Shanghai GM, Shanghai VW and Beijing Hyundai.
Statistics showed that China produced 1.051m vehicles in January and February, of which 769,000 were passenger cars and 282,000 commercials, up 42.3% from a year ago.
In January and February, 1.012m vehicles were sold in China, including 764,000 passenger cars and 248,000m commercials, a rise of 47.8% compared with 2005.
