The Chinese tyre industry has urged the Chinese government to take measures against the anti-dumping duties imposed on tyres imported from China after the US Department of Commerce claimed Chinese manufacturers benefited from government subsidies.
The US government said tyres for passenger cars and light trucks produced in China were unfairly subsidised and should be subject to punitive tariffs ranging from 17.7% to 81.3%, depending on the manufacturer.

The China Daily newspaper reported that Fan Rende, honorary chairman of the Beijing-based China Rubber Industry Association, said the US is adopting a tough stance on China’s tyre industry.
The association is discussing solutions and appealing to the government to take measures to protect the interest of Chinese tyre makers in the US market, the China Daily said.
“The US move is only an attempt to further cut Chinese tyre producers’ market share in the US and it could encourage other countries or regional organisations such as the European Union, Japan and India, to take similar measures to reduce their trade deficits with China,” Fan said.
