Wuhu-based Chery Automobile Co. is planning another car production facility in China with annual capacity of 200,000 cars of 1.3L-1.5L engine displacement.

According to a SinoCast report the company is now capable of manufacturing 650,000 cars, 400,000 engines and 300,000 sets of gearboxes annually. The new base, which will be built in 2010, will boost the company’s total capacity to 850,000 cars, the largest among all the passenger car manufacturers in the country.
However, the company aims to sell 480,000 cars in 2008, leaving a capacity margin of 170,000 cars, which will be filled as the company is about to start up its cooperation with Chrysler and Fiat, the report adds..
The company is planning a wave of new model introductions over the next eighteen months including the 1.5L Cowin and compact family sedan Chery A3.
