Chery Automobile said exports in May and June both exceeded 20,000 units, boosting its total exports to over 700,000 units.

Chery spokesman Jin Yibo told Xinhua news agency the company’s full-year auto exports are quite likely to exceed its target of 170,000 units in 2012.

Chery’s auto exports in the first half of this year totaled 92,500 units, a rise of 28.8% year on year.

Since selling its first motor vehicle overseas market in October 2001, Chery’s exports have rapidly grown from 10 units that year to some 160,000 units in 2011, with average annual growth reaching 163%.

Chery has established 16 overseas production centres to produce customised vehicles for local customers. It has over 1,153 dealers overseas, selling its products in over 80 countries and regions.
