BYD, in which US investor Warren Buffett has a stake, plans to unveil its second generation F3 in Beijing in April 2012.
The car is expected to be released alongside BYD’s new dual mode hybrid F3DM, reported the Beijing Times.
Both models will have BYD’s own Ti 1.2-litre turbocharged engine with a dual-clutch transmission.
“The entire new generation F3 will be an example of BYD’s own technology,” said Zhang Jintao, head of the department responsible for engine and drive train technology.
BYD has invested almost US$316.16m developing the Ti engine series, including building all components in-house.
