Volkswagen’s Audi brand sales in China and Hong Kong rose 28% year on year in the first half to 140,699 cars and expects to sell 280,000 vehicles there in 2011.
“Audi remains the best-selling premium brand in China,” Audi sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer said in a statement cited by Dow Jones.

Audi sold 27,658 cars in China last month, a monthly record. China is now the brand’s largest single market.
Deliveries of Audi models produced in Changchun increased by 21% to 113,396 cars.
Audi produces the A4L, the Audi A6L (both specially lengthened for China) and the Q5 in Changchun in a joint venture with FAW Car.
