Canadian car sales in February were “all over the road” on Tuesday as two of North America’s Big Three manufacturers posted steep declines, while Toyota Canada stayed on course with the largest gain, Reuters reported.
Toyota Canada reportedly managed to steer clear of general industry weakness, leading the pack with a 1.2% increase in sales of cars and light trucks, which include sport utility vehicles and minivans, to move 9,826 vehicles off dealer forecourts in February.
Reuters said General Motors of Canada scraped out a 0.4% increase in sales to shift 26,623 cars and light trucks in February, compared with 26,516 last year.
But DaimlerChrysler Canada saw a 20% drop in combined vehicle sales to 12,713 in February, compared with 15,887 last year, the report noted.
Ford of Canada reportedly sold 14,884 cars and light trucks in February, down 14.6% from 17,437 vehicles in the same period last year.
