Automakers sold 123,032 new light vehicles in Canada in February 2017, up 3.2% year on year and a record for the month, according to a media report citing DesRosiers Automotive Consultants and automakers.

Truck sales grew 5.2% as passenger car sales slipped 2.1%, Reuters reported.

General Motors boosted sales 5% to 16,528.

Ford sales of 18,985 vehicles were up 3.2% and a February record.

Chrysler volume rose 2% to 19,115.

Toyota total sales dipped 6.2% to 13,405, Honda (+21.7%) and Nissan (6.5%) volumes rose while Hyundai (-12.7%) and Mitsubishi (-14.7%) sales fell, DesRosiers data showed.

Scotiabank analyst Carlos Gomes told Reuters sales were expected to slow this year after several years of records in Canada and Mexico.
