US beer brewer Anheuser-Busch, with help from truck maker Nikola Motor and EV commercial vehicle specialist BYD, completed its first zero-emission beer delivery in the company's hometown of St. Louis.

A Nikola hydrogen-electric truck picked up the load of beer and delivered it to local wholesaler Lohr Distributors – the first commercial delivery onboard using such a vehicle from this manufacturer. Lohr in turn delivered the beer to the Enterprise Center, home of the St. Louis Blues, on a BYD electric truck completing the zero emissions transportation.

Anheuser-Busch already had partnerships with both Nikola and BYD. The brewer has committed to reducing carbon emissions across its value chain by 25% by 2025.

Last year, Anheuser-Busch placed an order for up to 800 Nikola hydrogen-electric powered semis and will eventually replace its entire long-haul dedicated fleet with zero emission vehicles.

Trevor Milton, Nikola's CEO said: "We are now preparing production vehicles for Anheuser-Busch and plan on delivering the trucks as fast as possible."

Anheuser-Busch last month announced a pilot project with BYD in California last month to improve fleet sustainability at four distribution facilities across the southern state.
