Renault is considering production of car parts in Bulgaria, daily newspaper 24 Chasa reported on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Francois Fourmount, general director of Renault, Nissan Motor and Dacia in Romania reportedly said the car maker was looking at ways to make parts in the Balkan candidate for EU membership, to supply factories in neighbouring Romania and Turkey.


“We have found Bulgaria has relatively well-developed industry and most importantly, a solid experience in metallurgy,” the paper quoted him as saying, Reuters said.


The news agency noted that, earlier this year, French aluminium car parts maker Montupet said it would build a plant in Bulgaria for the production of aluminium wheel rims, engine and chassis parts for companies including Renault.
