PSA Peugeot Citroën sold a record 15,876 vehicles in Brazil in the month of September, the company’s largest monthly volume since it started operations in the country in 2001.

The result represented increases of 45.5% and 16.6% on August 2009 and September 2008 respectively, the company said.
PSA Peugeot Citroën’s previous monthly record was set in July 2008, when 15,861 vehicles were sold.
Last month’s performance reinforces PSA Peugeot Citroën’s position as Brazil’s fifth-largest automaker.
Brazil’s car market enjoyed an exceptionally strong month in September as buyers rushed to take advantage of a tax-break being phased out.
