BRAZIL: General Motors to invest US$1bil in its plants
For the next 3 years motor vehicles producer General Motors is to invest US$1bil in its 5 plants in Brazil.The announcement was made by its vice chairman Mr Jose Carlos Pinheiro Neto.
This investment will involve company plants at Caetano do Sul, Jose dos Campos, Sorocaba, Mogi das Cruzes, all at Paulo state, and at Gravatai, Rio Grande do Sul state.

At Gravatai the company is to start the production of Celta model. Recently Gravatai’s plant absorbed a US$600mil investment. In addition General Motors is studying the possibility to set up a distribution center for its model Celta.
