A spokesman for GM’s Brazil unit told the news agency the company is still holding talks with union leaders about the leave plan, which would be the second this year at the Sao Jose dos Campos plant – the company will announce a decision on Friday.

Bloomberg News said that GM employs 8,500 people in its Sao Jose dos Campos plant and noted that Brazilian car and truck sales fell 8% in the first half to 647,616 vehicles as a slowing economy and high interest rates curbed demand.
