A year later than planned, the first super sports car designed and built in Brazil has been rolled out.

The car was developed after entrepreneur William Rosset in 2008 commissioned design and prototype-building studio Amoritz GT in São Paulo City to do the design work.

Amoritz GT was founded in 2005 by Fernando Morita, a 32 year old designer who heads  team of four specialists, two expert in clay modeling.

The car has striking lines, a high level of finish and power courtesy of a mid-mounted Dodge Viper V10 pumping out 1,007hp on local E100 (100% ethanol) fuel.

The car, valued at US$1m, made its debut at the Istituto Europeo di Design’s São Paulo headquarters and the entrepreneur gave it to his father, Donino.

Now comes the hard bit – setting up the business plan, bringing in new partners and sourcing parts, ideally from Brazil’s well established suppliers.

A run of 50 units is planned and this obviously will be no easy task. Besides the need to find a suitable factory, the country’s current sluggish economic growth is likely to hinder sales.

Potential financiers of such projects are more selective now and potential buyers of such high-priced machines are also more cautious in light of the financial crises overseas, especially in Europe.
