Delphi Corporation on Friday named Gabor Janos Deak as president of its South American operations from January 1. He will report to Jose Maria Alapont, Delphi’s president, international operations and vice president of sales and marketing.

Deak has been managing director in South America for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems.
“Gabor’s broad global experience will play a major role in supporting Delphi’s accelerated efforts for customer satisfaction and profitable growth in the region,” said Alapont.
Deak joined Delphi in January 2000 when Delphi acquired Lucas Diesel Systems. At the time, he held the position of managing director for Lucas Diesel’s South American operations. Prior to joining Lucas Diesel Systems in 1998, Deak had a 23-year career with Maxion in South America where he held positions in engineering, logistics, quality, manufacturing, strategic planning and new product development.
