BMW has selected Kumho Tyre to be the OEM supplier for the new X3 SUV.

Kumho Tyre is delivering a tyre in a 245/50R19 105W fitment on BMW’s X3 four-door hatchback sport activity vehicle (SAV), offering hydroplaning resistance and driving stability at high speeds.

The BMW X3 launched the mid-size SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) segment in 2003. BMW has recorded more than 1.6m new registrations of the X3 worldwide.

The Crugen HP91 highlights a newly developed compound. The tread design maximises steering stability by reinforcing rigidity and also creates a balanced contact patch with the road. The HP91 also features 4 wide circumferential grooves for performance on wet surfaces for all-season traction and control.

BMW started production of the new X3 at its Spartanburg factory in June of last year and the tyres are manufactured at Kumho’s Gwangju plant in the South Heolla Province of Korea.

“Kumho’s high levels of quality and engineering were the key success factors,” said Kumho Tyre US CEO, Harry Choi.
