BFGoodrich Tires has announced it is supplying its All-Terrain T/A off-road standard tyres for the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, billed as the most capable factory-available off-road pickup truck.
Since launch in 2014, over 5m of these tyres have been sold in North America. BFGoodrich participated with Ford as a technical partner in the official media launch of the Raptor this week in California.
The tyre is engineered from the maker's championship off-road motorsports technology, and is claimed to deliver exceptional toughness, tread life and traction for conquering harsh conditions, including gravel, dirt, rock, mud and snow.
Ford and BFGoodrich engineers have long collaborated to create custom-tailored tyre constructions and compounds that maximise vehicle performance. The F-150 Raptor's version of the KO2 tyre was again co-developed with Ford and tuned specifically for the truck's unique performance requirements.
The supplier has long used the Baja Mexico peninsula as a proving ground for its products. This year, Ford Performance entered the new F-150 Raptor in the fully stock truck class at the SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race. The truck finished the punishing race under the 36-hour time limit using only one set of standard tyres.
Michelin or BFGoodrich tyres are available on every vehicle in Ford's Performance line-up: the GT, Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R, Focus RS, ST, and Fiesta ST all have Michelin tyres.
