New additions include: Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing Europe’s head-office activities, Toyota’s Accessory and Service Centre in Belgium, and vehicle logistics centres in Derby and Grimsby in the U.K. and Valenciennes, France. Toyota’s expanded ISO 14001 certification is particular in that it is multi-site, multi-function and covers operations in three countries. The certification recognises the objectives set, and achievements made, by Toyota in the realm of environmental protection.
The ISO 14001 standard specifies requirements for Environmental Management Systems, and requires companies to develop and maintain a system that includes the key components of establishing an environmental policy; determining environmental aspects and impacts of product, activities and services; planning environmental objectives and measurable targets; implementation of programs to meet objectives and targets; checking and corrective action and management review.
Ever since Toyota first received ISO14001 certification for certain European head-office activities in October 2001, it has continuously sought to expand the scope of this certification.
