Sales of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Europe climbed 4.7% to reach 660,621 units in the first nine months of the year.
Toyota’s hybrid sales rose 12% to just under 109,000 while sales of Lexus hybrids rose 27% year on year to more than 22,000.

Toyota Motor Europe said half of all Auris sales are hybrid; the model is built at the company’s UK factory. Auris sales increased by 13% to 108,179 units, with 27,000 of those the Hybrid Touring Sports wagon.
Turkish-built Corolla sedan sales rose 44% year on year to reach 62,415 units – 75% of which were sold in Israel, Russia and Turkey.
Lexus sales rose 19% or just under 6,000 units, to 37,528 with sales of the IS model up 25% to 9,592 units, of which 79% were hybrid, an increase of 36% on last year.
TME said 5,000 customers have placed orders for the newly-launched Lexus NX compact SUV.
