New car registrations in the 25 European Union member states in September 2004 rose 7.4% year-on-year to 169,828 units, according to the European carmakers’ association ACEA.

All member states registered an increase in new car registrations in September 2004, apart from Germany, which reported a 2.3% decrease.
New light commercial vehicle registrations in the union increased by 8.5% year-on-year in the first nine months of the year against an 8.2% year-on-year rise for the same period in 2003.
Heavy commercial vehicle registrations in the 25 EU countries went up 6.1% in September 2004, while in Italy the sector registered a growth of 23.3% year-on-year.
