Nissan Europe sold 542,292 vehicles in Western Europe during 2003, an improvement of 14.5% over 2002, for a market share of 3.06%.

In a statement, the company said growth was driven by new products such as the Micra, and strong performance in the 4×4 (SUVs and light truck) sector with products such as the X-trail and pickup.
In December 2003, Nissan reported western European sales of 49,480 vehicles, an increase of 31% over the same month in 2002, for 3.75% market share.
Nissan France sold 47,059 units in 2003, up 31.5% compared to 2002.
Germany sales were 70,050 units, 9% up year on year. Italian sales increased 31% to 78,075 units, Spain was up 10% to 62,229 and UK sales climbed 7.5% to 114,641.
The redesigned Micra, which replaced a model almost 10 years old, was Nissan’s best-selling European model with 2003 sales up 70% 184,000 units.
The X-trail SUV was slightly revised during 2003 and sales rose 46% to 51,206 units. Pickup truck sales rose 28% to 39,654.
