New car sales in Belgium were down an annual 11.15% in 2009 at 476,194 units, according to figures from the country’s Federation of Car Industries (Febiac). A total of 535,947 vehicles were sold in 2008.

The fall came despite December sales rising 21% year-on-year to 26,449.


Figures also showed that brands distributed by D’Ieteren , Belgium’s largest auto retailer, had a market share of 16.84% for December, down from 21.74% in December 2008.


D’Ieteren distributes Volkswagen , Seat, Audi, Skoda, Bentley, Porsche and Lamborghini brands.
