A sales surge by the Japanese brand, combined with a lack of interest in Jaguar by buyers outside the UK has seen Lexus overtake the British car maker in Europe.

Data issued by Brussels-based ACEA earlier on 18 November shows combined YtD sales across 30 European markets of 24,456 Jaguar cars and 24,679 Lexus cars and crossovers. The market itself expanded by 6.2 percent in October, with Jaguar’s 14 percent improvement (YoY) outpaced by Lexus’ 40% surge. The relevant sales numbers were 1,918 and 3,262 units respectively.
