The application made by Hyundai Motor Europe to join ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, has been accepted by the General Assembly of the Brussels-based organisation. HMA’s membership is effect from January 2012.
“We welcome Hyundai in our midst and are convinced the company will make a valuable contribution to the work of our association”, Ivan Hodac, the Secretary General of ACEA, states. Chang Kyun Han, the President of Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH, added: “We are delighted that Hyundai Motor Europe’s application to join ACEA has been formally approved. As a significant European automobile manufacturer, Hyundai looks forward to contributing fully to ACEA’s important work in Brussels.”

Hyundai and its subsidiary Kia Motors, each have production facilities within the European Union. Both manufacturers now steadily sell more cars across the region each month than many once larger Japanese and European rivals. The most recent example was the combined Hyundai-Kia outselling the three brands of Daimler AG, taking ninth place behind BMW Group in the 28 European markets for which ACEA compiles monthly registrations data.
