Audi is to plough EUR270m (US$381m) to expand capacity at its Brussels plant in the next few years as it looks to up production next year by 20%.
The automaker says it has already spent more than EUR300m on the site since acquiring it three years ago.

Improvements include a new body shop with 450 robots, a preproduction service centre, a test track and an efficient energy centre.
The investment news follows Audi’s announcement it has now produced its seven millionth car off the assembly line. The model, an A1 1.4 TFSI, made its public debut five weeks ago at the Paris motor show.
“The achievement of 7m manufactured automobiles demonstrates the tremendous reservoir of experience, ability and passion shared by the employees at Audi Brussels,” said production chief Frank Dreves.
“I am convinced the A1 will be a great success and secure jobs here in Brussels for the long term.”
Audi says early figures show the new model is selling well. “We have therefore already increased our production planning for next year by 20%,” said Dreves.
“In addition, we will be investing roughly EUR270m in the expansion of our production capacity in the next few years.”
