The AGC Technovation Centre was inaugurated this week in Gosselies (Charleroi region, Belgium).
The centre is a new facility bringing together about 250 researchers, technicians and engineers focused on enhancing the glass making process and developing new types of glass substrate materials and technology for the automotive and construction industries.
Situated in the middle of a technology park, the new site will draw upon a network of industries, laboratories and universities conducive to attracting international researchers and to developing synergies associated with open innovation.
“This new facility is fully dedicated to glass material innovation and will promote the emergence of new technical solutions to meet the ever demanding needs of the automotive market. The EUR30m investment is a significant part of our group’s global strategy to develop ‘high value add’ glass products such as our Wonderlite light control glass roof and our ultra-thin laminated backlite, both of which are now fitted to luxury models,” said Jean-Marc Meunier, general manager of AGC Automotive Europe.
